How to make an AI-written follow-up email sound human
Paste it in below — the rewriter is already set to “follow-up email”, so it rewrites for the person who actually reads one. Then keep scrolling for the specific thing that gives a follow-up email away, and a before-and-after.

Why it reads differently
Read it before you send it. Your name is on this, so fix anything that is not true of you and put back the one specific detail only you know.
The thing that gives a follow-up email away
“I wanted to follow up on my previous email to see if you had any thoughts” — a follow-up that adds nothing, apologises for existing, and gives the reader no new reason to reply.
It is worth being precise about this, because “sounds like AI” is not one problem. Every kind of writing has its own tell, and for a follow-up email it is the one above. Once you can see it in your own draft you will start catching it before you paste anything anywhere.
Before and after
Written by hand, not generated — a realistic AI-sounding draft and the same thing as a person would write it.
Reads like AI
I wanted to follow up on my previous email to see if you had any thoughts. I completely understand you must be incredibly busy, so I entirely understand if now is not the right time.
Reads like a person
Circling back on this. Since I wrote, we’ve added the CSV export you asked about — that was the blocker last time. Still happy to drop it if the timing’s wrong.
Notice what actually changed: the sentence lengths stopped matching, the stock phrasing went, and the specific detail moved to the front. Nothing was added that a real writer would not have known.
Who reads a follow-up email, and what they notice
Someone who did not reply the first time, usually because they were busy rather than because they hate you. They need one new thing, not a reminder that they owe you.
This is the whole reason the rewrite has to change with the text type. Everyday work writing, where the cost of AI phrasing is not embarrassment but confusion — nobody can tell what you decided, what you need, or by when.
How to fix it yourself, without any tool
Worth knowing, because the point is to stop needing a rewriter. Four passes, five minutes:
- Delete the first sentence. In most AI drafts it is setup. Start at the second sentence and see whether you lost anything — usually you did not.
- Break the rhythm. Find three sentences of similar length in a row and cut one of them in half. That single change does more than any word swap.
- Put in one plain word. Formal writing with a single ordinary word in it reads as human; flawless register reads as generated.
- Add the detail only you have. The number, the name, the thing that happened. This is the part no rewriter can do for you, and it is the part that works.

MonkeyPen rewrites the words you give it and keeps every fact intact — it does not research, verify or invent detail, and it is not a substitute for reading your own draft before you send it. It is a writing tool, not a guarantee about how anyone will react to your follow-up email.
